Architectural Art Glass
These are the 5 stained glass screens I designed and build in 2004 - 2005 for the Cultural Center in Huntingdon, Quebec. It was a Competition under the 1% program for Public Art and the Building is also Classified as a Historic site.
Each screen is 182 x 275 cm and consist's of a steel frame painted white with the stained glass installed in it. The frame's are not functioning as windows but sit in front of the exterior windows on the inside window sill of the space. All metal work was done in my studio and are designed to be easy removable from the window sill. The last window at the bottom is a metaphor about Art and I used John lennons song "Imagine" as a theme because music is one artform we are constantly surrounded by and exposed to, I included most of the words of the song in this window as well as some pictographic elements like the arrow as a metaphor for direction and that art and in this case music can lead the way in connection with the lyrics of the song create a meaning for Humanity and the titel "Imagine" refers to imagination as a reminder that we do have it as a gift that sometimes seems forgotten.
